When I moved into our Boise home, I had two cats of my own. The previous owners mentioned there were feral cats living around the property. It wasn't long before I started seeing them.

Then I started feeding them. Then, of course, I started worrying about them.

Before I knew it, I was getting them spayed and neutered, caring for the injured ones, bringing some inside and slowly earning their trust.

Somewhere along the way, they stopped being the cats outside.

They became mine.

Today, we have eleven cats and one very loved little Chihuahua. Most of our cats began life feral, and they taught me something that has become central to how we care for animals: trust can't be rushed. You earn it through patience, consistency and respecting their boundaries.

Then Jack found us, too.

I was single when all of this started, so when Jack came into my life, loving me meant accepting a rather large feline family as part of the package.

Thankfully, he didn't just accept them. He fell in love with them too.

He learned their personalities, routines and quirks—and patiently earned the trust of cats who weren't always sure about this new person in their world.

Somewhere along the way, this became our crazy, wonderful animal family.

Why we created Gin & Jack

I've also trained and volunteered with Simply Cats in Boise as an enrichment volunteer, but some of our greatest teachers are still the animals waiting for us at home.

And as much as we adore them, we also love traveling and experiencing life together.

Leaving eleven cats and a dog behind isn't exactly a grab your suitcase and don't think twice situation.

Did everyone eat? Did someone see the shy one? Is everyone acting normally? Are they getting attention—or did someone just fill the bowls and leave?

We know how hard it is to leave the animals you love behind. We also know how different a trip feels when you completely trust the person caring for them.

That's why we're creating Gin & Jack.

We want to provide the kind of care we'd want for our own family—personal, dependable and built around each animal's individual personality and routine.

To us, luxury pet care isn't about making pet sitting fancy. It's knowing your animals well enough to make them feel like you never really left.

The cats who showed up outside my home all those years ago had no idea what they were starting.

Neither did I.

They found us. We'll be there for yours.
